Dottie Peoples
Dottie Peoples has a secret. While most Gospel artists can be comfortably categorized into one musical niche or another—be it “traditional” or “urban,” “classic” or “contemporary”—Dottie has found her own patented way of connecting with fans of nearly all ages and tastes.
I’ve been singing ever since.
Dottie sang in high school and church choirs until her graduation. Her prodigious talents soon came to the attention of Gospel legend Dorothy Norwood, who invited Dottie to travel with her as a back-up singer on billings that included both Gospel and secular notables from the Five Blind Boys to the Rolling Stones, with whom Norwood did one tour as the opening act.
“This is no longer about awards, or material rewards to me,” says Dottie. What matters to me is that the people who hear these songs, if they already know the Lord, will be blessed and encouraged, and that those who don’t will actually be saved and come to the realization that God will give you everything you need—all the nurture, and comfort, and provision—through the water only He can give. I don’t want people to see me in this music. I want them to see Him. And if they do, they will receive a blessing...and I will have achieved everything I could ever hope to
achieve.”
