BeBe Winans Bio

You already know the voice... It belongs to the warm, soulful tenor, BeBe Winans. A groundbreaking inspirational, R&B, and Gospel vocalist, writer, and producer, BeBe has won four Grammy Awards, ten Dove Awards, six Stellar Awards, two NAACP Awards and a Soul Train Award. A multi faceted artist, BeBe not only has a successful recording career, but also recently launched a syndicated radio show and returned to acting in both film and theater.
As a member of gospel music royalty, BeBe’s success is truly a family tradition. The seventh of 10 children, BeBe began his career as a background singer for his famous brothers (The Winans) before teaming with sister CeCe Winans in 1987 for an amazing run of smash hits and platinum-selling albums. BeBe and CeCe had success with such hits as, "Heaven", "I'm Lost Without You", and the number one hits "Addictive Love" and "I'll Take You There." BeBe’s stop-in-your tracks voice shines on his songs "In Harms Way," "Jesus, Children of America" and, "Coming Back Home." BeBe has also recorded songs with such entertainers as Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight and Whitney Houston.
“This is a new beginning for me, " declares the singer/ songwriter /producer. "The feel is different. It has to do with the excitement I have about this album being mine: my label, my creation. That makes this different than any album I've ever done. I'm coming from a good place now. It's something that takes years to get to... through age, understanding, and experience. I'm comfortable with who I am and where I want to go. My vision for this album was to select songs that will find and touch people where they are."
BeBe recently returned to acting, making his feature film debut in Jonathan Demme’s, The Manchurian Candidate. BeBe is no stranger to acting, he previously starred on Broadway in the shows Civil War and Don’t Get God Started and the National Tour of What’s On the Hearts of Men.

BeBe Winans packs a powerhouse production team, and every cut is as seamless and soulful as any R&B aficionado can ask for. With Ron Shapiro, Rhett Lawrence, Manuel Seal, Keith Andes, "Little" Louie Vega, Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, Nigel Lowis, Arif Mardin and Cedric and Victor Caldwell on your team, you're already thinking Super Bowl. Spend a little time in the finer studios of Los Angeles and New York; throw in a little London Symphony Orchestra, the Soul City Brass and Eric Clapton(!) on guitar; then add Margaret Bell-Byars, Hezekiah Walker's Love Fellowship Choir, Eternal, Ron, Debbie and CeCe Winans and--dare I say it--Luther Vandross himself on background vocals, and you might as well sit down and shut your mouth. Or better yet, stand up and get ready to howl. It rarely gets much better than this.
